WARNING: GRAPHIC PICS!!! HELP!!! Something Killed My Guinea!! Can't Figure Out What...

My brother discovered that one of our guineas was missing. He found him, dead and half eaten. The kill was fresh when my brother found him; we are thinking it happened somewhere around 5pm, starting to get dark.  The neck was eaten and about half the body was picked off of. The other half of the body was not touched. His head was left, one eye and the lower beak was eaten. The intestines were spewed about, not eaten. The wings were not eaten, practically untouched except for a small patch of missing feathers.  If it's a bobcat, it's unlike previous bobcat attacks we've had. In those attacks, just piles of feathers were left with absolutely no bodies. I hope I wrote this clearly; please tell me if you have any questions.  Thank you so much for any help you have.

We are so upset. Bisquick was our only male guinea. Our guinea hens will probably be so upset when they can't find him tomorrow morning (although, most likely they already know).

Notice the three puncture marks in this picture. Is it bite marks or talons or ????

Half the body was eaten/ picked off of. His back / spinal area was cleared of feathers, not really eaten off of though.

I am so sorry for you loss Pioneer Chicken.  hugs.gif My guess would be bobcat because of the mess of feathers, but that is just a guess. I would guess bobcat because when one got our girls and boy a few years ago he left a ton of feathers all around each bird.

Hope you find out what got your guinea,

~Piper

Is the neck missing. Because hawks go for the throat, and then what ever else they want.

Bird of prey because a cat etc would have eaten thru those ribs to get heart and liver, those bones look mainly undamaged so I vote for bird of prey picking them clean rather then something chewing the meat off.
