Day 20....started hearing some little bitty peeps yesterday.  Got 2 starting to pip...just the first tiny little punctures in the shell. Another one is doing the wautusi...rolling around getting into position and peeping too.  Can't wait to see who's first out.  So far, one of the black frizzle cochins looks to be in the lead.  Gold campine is the rock n roller.  Happy hatching everyone!!jumpy.gifjumpy.gifjumpy.gif

Love the pictures and the video - thank you for posting!

6 more days!  Sigh.  Can't wait!  If I stare at the incubator longer, will time pass faster?  Works on my pots of boiling water (not!).

My teen sons have taken to 'singing' to the eggs - the Star Wars theme song in chicken-speak "bok, bok, bok, bok-be-bok, bok-be-bok'!

I swear if the chicks answer to that after they hatch I'M going to lay an egg laughing!  Gads!

-- Blessed are the flexible, for they will not break --

Beloved spouse of wonderful husband, Mom to two men-in-training, 6 Eastern 3-toed box turtles, 1 spoiled parrotlet, 1 pompous feline and a jealous dog.  Growing Black Java laying flock - 5 hens (hatched 4/1/11) - with 1 hen added (5/20/12)  - with 5 incubated models (2/7/13) and now 5 eggs in the bator!  Love our Java's!  Meaties on order...

That's awesome!! And staring at the incubator is like trying to will paint to dry faster by starring at it. Thankfully DS is a solid distractor. Chasing a 20 month old is time consuming. roll.png

I have been watching my incubator all day! I am hoping I get to see them hatch! Today is day 20

Hi Everyone!  Day 21... One of the Black Cochins was the first out, closely followed by a Gold Campine.  There are now a couple of LF cochins, both Campines are out, one Aussie mutt mix and a bunch of tiny black/red frizzle cochins.  42 went to the bator, 33 to lockdown, 12 hatched so far. I see three others just pipping, so the zipping should start soon.

I discovered quickly that the attempts I had made to keep chicks segregated by breed weren't going to work.  Note to self for next hatch...taller dividers or keep all the same...or forget segregating at all!  Also, I apparently wrote the rail/position number in the prime zip zone, so I'm having to guess which one actually hatched by looking at what's left of the Rn/n code and what's left of the breed/color code and collection date I wrote ...all in the wrong place!!  Oh well, the first time is a learning experience.

I'm anxious to see how many more hatch today.  Happy Hatching everyone...and thanks for the pics and videos. I'll get pics when the hatching is done.

ChixAddict- We need pictures!!!

Choptank- Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I am officially in lockdown today! Had a brief scare when the humidity jumped up too high but I moved the hydrometer (too close to a water well) and it balanced back out again. Whether it was moving the hydrometer or opening up briefly releasing some moisture, it worked.
