Good for chickens
By L. Costanza
I bought this incubator with the EZ scope about six months ago. I am a teacher and used it to hatch chicks. The R-Com was great, but the EZ scope was a waste of money. It only shows about the size of a dime and to see the chicken moving and veins you are better off with an LED candler for a lot less money. The incubator was super easy and automated just like it says. The downside is it says it hatches other types of eggs. I am using duck eggs and there's no way it can fit 3 eggs and still turn. Hence I am down to 2 eggs and hoping they are successful as the hatch rate is not 100% no matter what incubator you use. Also the R-Com says it has a nest when they hatch. This is actually the box and there is no light that comes with it so it's misleading. Plan on buying a small cage and heat lamp yourself. This would be the perfect product for me if it held 5 eggs since not all hatch and was set up for bigger eggs. Overall everything worked and the chickens were super easy.

Poor egg turning design.
By Nancy M. Thibodeau
The first eggs I placed in the Rcom were three Appleyard duck eggs. They were tight fitting but all of them hatched. I was so pleased i purchased another incubator. The second batch were Rouen Duck eggs and only two hatched but I don't believe the problem was the incubator. I am very fussy and they were cleaned, sterilized and packed away in original boxes for the winter. This year I wiped them down and turned them on for another batch of duck eggs--only one worked. The other one was beeping and not reading the temperature. I did all I could to try and set it back to factory settings but it is not working. I went ahead and ordered another incubator right away. Neither of the two I own now turn the eggs. They slip all over and fail to turn. I ordered a bigger egg tray because I thought maybe my eggs were to big. When the egg trays came one of the tray rollers were frozen and broke. So now I have two more trays on order. I am seriously thinking of getting rid of these and ordering something more reliable especially if you only get one year/two batches of eggs out of them. I have to manually turn the eggs three times a day. Poor egg turning design. The older one is now making grinding noises but I don't dare take the eggs out at this stage. I am considering another brand like the Brinsea--they have good reviews.

Almost any product no matter how good will have the occasional bad review but there shoudnt be alot. I usually do an avrage I find as many review on as many diffrent sites as I can and try to avrage it all out if it gets 5 starts on one sight but 2 on another I keep looking and in the end if I read 25 reviews and it gets an avrage 4 stars Im good , Im more likely to buy something that has a better avrage then something that has really good rievews just from two or three people. If that makes sense. Sorry Im probly giveing you more info then you wanted consdiering I hvent used it .

gabrielle1976 i can't thank you enough for this info!! I'm thinking for the money that i would invest in this one and it only holds such a small amount of eggs i think i should get something bigger! I like the digital aspect of this one. But i have also been hearing alot about the Brinsea brand bators. This would be perfect tho if i would only be hatching a few eggs. *Sigh* Decisions Decisions!! Thank you for sharing this with me. What kind of bator do you use?

Back in September we were very proud to announce that our Mini Advance incubator and OvaScope egg scope had won 2011 Learning Magazine Teacher's Choice Award for the Classroom.

This annual program was first introduced in 1994 and has become one of the most recognized and prestigious awards in the educational market. A panel of teachers across the country evaluates each product in the classroom.

The products are evaluated in real life situation on quality, instructional value, ease of use and innovation and Brinsea’s Mini incubator and OvaScope scored highly on all counts. We really could not ask for better reviews.

This incubator only sets 7 but from the sounds of it is a good one for the money. IF you think you can spend a little more and want a little more space.
