Raising indoor ducks?

She will not sleep in a crate anymore. When she was a baby she did but unless she's laying eggs she wants nothing to do with it.

I concur with those who replied earlier (like jdywntr, bpost) about not keeping indoor ducks: they are the messiest birds and they need a place to roam. Don't try to have indoor ducks unless you have plenty of time to clean up after them. Here is my experience with my Rouen and White layer. I hope this will help.
* I kept them in a 22" dog carrier that has 2 doors, one on the top so I could easily feed or change the beddings. I inserted a small 15 W desk lamp through the top door to keep them warm at night for the first 2 weeks.
* I used a raised grilling grid that fits the bottom of the dog carrier. Their poop dropped to the bottom, where I put layers of newspaper to catch the poop. I learned that shaving woods or small animal bedding didn't work. They poop a lot and they constantly step on their wet poop, making big mess.
* I used 2 heavy ramekins for food and water.
* When they were 3 weeks old, I transferred them to a wooden rabbit house (48"x20"x36"). This hutch has a metal grid that allows their poop to drop to the plastic tray beneath. I had to clean the tray daily.
* When they were 4 weeks old, I housed them in a large foldable 2-door metal dog crate (48"x29"x32) and this has been their permanent home since then. In the day, I let them roam my back yard. At night, they sleep in the crate. The crate has a tray but it is of no use. I raised the crate of the ground and let them poop directly to the ground because it is simply too much to clean. I move the crate once a month to clean up the mess.

Let me know if you have any question and Good luck!

I got Alex from a friend, and he refuses to tell me how he got the little guy. I have been giving Alex crushed cheerios and water but I want to give him some starter feed, but I don't have any nor the ability to buy it without my mom finding out I have
Alex. I have made a small harness for Alex made out of string, and tonight I am going to take him/her to the lake to eat seeds in the grass. My mom does not know I have him/her because if she does find out, she will make me abandon him/her in a river or lake.

PLEASE HELP!
