Grazing Frames

Was watching a you-tube video of someone who did this (one of my subscriptions) so went hunting on BYC. Great article and will be trying that as soon as I get some free time (not that I get much free time)

Here's one I put along the inside wall of my coop. I placed it there to discourage perching/pooping on it. It has wheat growing in the picture, but I replaced that with St. Augustine (more protein). I also recently lowered the top to be closer to the ground than it is in the pictures.

I used a livestock panel as a basis for the frame. Then covered it with plastic hardware cloth.

How did it work out? We're expanding our run and I want to do this in the last 10' where it will not have a canopy, just wire.

I'm adding to Honey Doo List " off n summer " thinking How To make Several lengths . Connecting with Piano Hinge, & door handle on end.
Easer to lift & move 4 me with Physical Disabilities.. JUST in Planning stage. will grow Native Grasses.

That sounds like an awesome plan! I'm going to plant clover in mine. Pics when you get it done?

Mine love theirs.

I let them pick at them for about 3 months, then turn it over, let them demolish the growth, and then replant.

I use any combination of ryegrass, clover, turnip greens, chicory, peas, radish, fescue or millet.

I do agree with using a slightly larger wire size; 1/2 x 1 inch, or 1x1inch.
