Do chickens feel love?

Sorry if this was in the wrong category. I really find a category for this. Anyway, you know everyone loves thier chickens and think thier eggs are delicious, well THEY ARE, so yeah... But everybody must've gotten to a point wondering if thier chickens love them back.We all love our chickens but yeah, I'm usually thinking they just love me for treats. I could be wrong though. So here are my questions:

1. Can chickens feel comfort when you pet them?

2. Do chickens actually respond back to us humans?

3. Do our chickens love us back?

Please try to answer them all.

I have had chickens for many years and although they have varied personalities, I have definitely seen the gambit of emotions. They come when I call or even hear my voice! I have pet and cuddled them when they r hurting or even dying and I know they understand. I have also observed friendships among my chickens. We had an older chicken who had a companion when they were pecking around the yard. When she would stop to rest, so would her companion. It got to the point where she could not fly up to the roost so she would get up on the nesting boxes and sleep, and so would her companion. When she died, her companion went back up on the roost. I have the 2 of them laying together on my screensaver. Don’t expect them (or any other animal) to feel exactly like a human, but they most definitely feel love.

I couldn't tell you for sure if chickens love...(but it sure seems like it sometimes).

I can only tell you I feel love for them. I am thankful all of them are only 1 year old, and hopefully have many more years left before I have to start losing my babies. I have two favorites that I just don't even want to think about how hard it will be.
