Freezing Utah Chickens

Thread Starter
Hi. I am in Northeastern Utah and it is cold. It has been about -20 degrees for the past two weeks. Today was the first day it has been above 0 for a bit. I currently have 15 hens, 1 rooster, 3 geese (I thought they were all males, but now they are laying eggs, oops) 1 female duck and 5 male ducks. I would like to find the ducks a new home and get more chickens. The ducks are extremely aggressive to the others. I've tried to stop them but that's not going so well. I mail ordered all of these birds last spring as day olds. I also had 15 guinea hens. I'm not even sure what got into their pen, but I lost them all. sad.png I am the crazy bird lady and love it. smile.png

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan big_smile.png

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

Greetings from Kansas, yawnal, and welcome-byc.gif!  Great to have you here!  Wow!  Those are some frigid temps!  I wish you luck in re-homing your ducks and in all your poultry adventures!

Welcome to BYC.  Thin out that flock of drakes.  They pose a danger to your one duck and potentially to the chicken hens.
