Pigeon or Dove Lofts/ Pens

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some suggestions via pictures of lofts/ pens. Actually any suggestions are welcome.

This is about the minimum space for a breeding pair. This is about a 5 gal pail.

Thanks, I guess I was a little vague though. I meant there pens, I was thinking about giving them room to fly.

Keep in mind that these birds are very adaptable! Rabbit hutches to modified dog runs will work. Also, what breed do you want? Breed will play a part in what you may want to make/buy.
Here's pretty much all you have to keep in mind: DRY, keep it DRY. Then predator protection, including rodents. And then some wind protection is nice. Like at least a three-sided shed,( this's less important if it doesn't get cold where you are). With the open side facing away from the most common direction the bad weather comes from. Then to furnish it, keep in mind that a single pigeon or a pair will claim a whole roost and/or nest box for themselves. Keep the feed and water in "no mans land" so that a pair doesn't claim it as there's.

I have four pigeons (2 Indian Fan Tails & 2 White Homers) now and am building a cage for them to be able to fly. Currently I have them in a rabbit hutch type setting.

if you want to fly them then a cheap chain link dog run with deer netting should suffice for during the day, for now, then just move them back/lock them into more secure loft coop or cage at night. i for a while just had my porch and balcony thumb nailed with tarping and deer netting (its decently small gauged tuff thicker black plastic), with rabbit cages and dog crates/houses stacked. there is also plastic poultry netting which should be BOP resistant enough for day use, but youd need something smaller gauged and metal so rodents and other problem animals couldnt get or just reach in even, if were going to leave out at night, and maybe as ill be doing when get better place set up agasin mosquito netting, even though never had problems for some reason with them with pigeons, like did with doves and some chickens at night (though you can leave a low watt buld on out by them so they can see to eat them). attaching a closable six sided plywood loft, would work to keep most thing out at night then just open up after gets bright out, to let them get into open air flight pen.

Thanks, laughingdog, I've since made a cage and leave them in there at night. I do need to improve the door though as I only put netting on it since I was out of poultry wire.
