I had a purebred mille fleur d'uccle cockerel that was hatched on March 1,2012. Here is a picture of him on April 6 2012 with his co-moms (neither of whom was his biological mom):
On May 6, I bought 8 quail d'anvers (2 roos and 6 hens). By that time, the d'uccle cockerel was getting a great deal of physical harassment from the other d'uccle hens, so I foolishly and soft-heartedly let him run with the d'anvers. See where this is going? So I am now the proud owner of 2 d'anver/duccle cockerals and 1 same mix hen. They are all beautiful and sadly useless to my breeding projects. Anyway, they are all very sweet and fun to have around and I thought I would share photos of one of the cockerals.
He is larger than a d'anver, but has feathered feet. Handsome boy!
This hen is a cross between an OEGB hen and a LF leghorn rooster. She's bigger than a bantam but smaller than a LF, probably around 3 lbs. Extremely broody.
This pullet is a result of a cross between the above hen and a LF silver-laced wyandotte rooster. She's slightly bigger than her mother, but nowhere near the size of her huge father. I have 3 pullets and a cockerel from this cross. Here they are:
