BYC Militia

10 gauge magnum full choke turkey gun and a ruger 10/22 work for me. I still have a partial box of 20 grain .22lr ammo it is primer only so it is almost silent but I shoot that out of a bolt action .22 because it lacks the power to cycle in a semi auto. Crosman now makes a series of air riles that can take down pests and a rifle that can take out predators using a .357 round that weighs around 140 grains. It is sweet I watched a video where they got a 200 lb hog that dropped on the spot , it was almost silent as well. It works off of a hand pump or air tank, go to crosman.com and look at the Benjamin line. I am sorry but any gun owner now should join the NRA now. If you think that they are only after "those guns " and I don't own one so I am safe think again because once they get one part they want they will keep on going. Next they will take your 20 gauge single shot shot gun. Just like in England.

I live in the city, so I just have a .177 pellet gun by the back door. Need to get some heavier pellets though. When it shoots the lighter ones at high speed they can make a nice crack that rivals a .22 shot.
I mainly have to deal with squirrels, raccoons, and possums.

This is funny --y'all all useing assault rifles to kill a small varment---better watch the shotguns you'll kill the chickens also--lol

Mauser 98 custom .280 rem with 139 gr SSTs for the long shots. Makes a mess of the pelts, still waiting on my AR 15 match rifle. Had to replace a furnace instead, will have to wait for the panic to die off now before I can get one.

Ithaca M37 12 ga with #4 lead for around the yard.

.22 Norinco JW15 boltgun for the smaller lawn and garden pests mostly. Real tack driver, similar to the CZ 452 currently available.

Browning Hi Power 9mm with 124 gr JSP handloads goes with me in the holster.

Got a yodeler with the M1 Garand last year! Needless to say, I don't live where I have to be quiet. Gunshots are a good thing in my neighborhood. Lets me know which neighbors would be good in a fight.
Yote with a M1 Garand! You had to love that! I like taking game with old weapons. Makes me feel connected to my dad and grandpa.

I never use anything so big here. Depending on what I am after it's either an old 12 gauge pump stevens, .22lr henry, or my .22 colt peacemaker (dispatches and scaring off critters).

an ignorant question here. i have had what i think is a cross between coyote & dog at the fence to my coop a couple of times. probably 50#. bigger than typical coyote. i worry about shooting through the chain link for fear of ricochet (is that valid worry?). i'm not a sharp shooter - so what weapon would best serve me?

It's probably a Coydog. A coyote/dog hybrid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coydog. It's not common but it does happen. A shotgun with 00 lead buckshot should handle the problem. Just be careful of what's in the background. Or trap it and shoot it with a .22.
