Frou-Frou is Nesting!! (Pic Heavy!)

Frou-Frou is nesting! Of course, the nest boxes will not do...

She likes corners to nest in!

...Biddy, you're in the way!

(Biddy: "Sorry...")

Hmmm... No, this corner isn't right. Maybe over there...

No, this is much too dirty!

...And this scoop is in the way over here! There's just no proper place to nest in this coop!

Thinking she might want to nest in the straw on the porch, I let her out of the run. ...Oh, but there are so many nice places! She had to take the scenic route to the porch.

There might be a nice place back here, but old rooster Toes was making her nervous...

Well, now that he's gone... Oh, no, no, this is far too muddy!

...If only she could fit in there...

Well, she does like corners.... But this one is too cluttered!

Oh, yuck, no!

A bike! Perfect! But she'll need a bigger one...

Now we're talking...

Let's see... This looks promising...

It's a tight squeeze, but...

...She made it! Now, to fix it up.

Shifting, shifting, shifting...

Shifting... Hmm... Well...

No, this isn't the right place.

Back to the coop!

roll.png Well, I'll keep y'all posted on her progress.

She is so cute.  Some day she is going to find a hidden nesting spot that is hard to find.  You will really have to keep an eye on that silly hen.

I can't upload from this computer, but as soon as my laptop charges, I'll get the pictures! It's so tiny, as small as my Sebrights' eggs. love.gif

Here it is!! At 33 weeks and 1 day old, Frou-Frou, the last of the pullets from 2012 to do so, has laid her first egg!

It didn't even move the egg scale and it's about the size of the eggs from my Sebrights. The lighter egg is a Sebright egg:

They grow up so, so fast... jumpy.gif Oh... My big fuzzy's all grown up! hit.gif

Oh, that's so funny.  I have hen that spends up to two hours finding a spot to lay.  Sometimes she yells at me to open the laundry door, and she'll sit in a box for a while.  Then she'll yell at me to let her out!  And then...well you know!  What a cutey.

big_smile.png Thanks, y'all, for the complements.

We're looking at egg number 2 today! Frou'f's been pacing at the gate for a while now, but I'm not falling for that again. roll.png

"PoopPatrol" ?? What's that label in the 11th photo?

I think you captured Frou-Frou's search for the perfect spot perfectly! Thanks so much for sharing the photos and narrative with is.
