Thanks for all the advice. 2 ducks made it and are a few days old now. They are developing very slowly and have some bald spots and are very shaky. They arent even that beautiful bright yellow. Dull brownish yellow. I am doing everything I can and hope for the best....thank you all

Be sure to supplement with either plain niacin or human grade Brewers yeast [health food store] to help them thrive especially if they are eating chick starter.150mgs of niacin to 1 gal of fresh water or 1 Tab of BY to 1 cup of feed till 10-12 weeks old.  Happy to hear they are still with you.  :)

Hi all I have two Pekin ducks however one had a sore foot which we made better but it still won't walk properly, it's webbed foot actually flips over backwards and were the duck has been using its wings to try a balance itself I think it's making him weaker but he swims alright and still eats and drinks just not so much walking. Please help? It's on naicin has been for a week now. Some days the duck seems like it's improving and others I'm not so sure but if I can get its foot right I'm hoping the duck will fully recover.

Did this duck break it's foot? That can cause sores on their wings when they use them to balance have you check it's wings out to make sure they aren't injured?

How about some pics of your ducks foot or a video of it trying to walk.

Sounds like it would be a good idea to take this one to a vet.

Good morning, everyone! I stopped visiting here because there was tension that wasn't ending between members. So, I will just update everyone that has been around for a while.

Lily and Jojo are doing well. They had a son and a daughter about seven months ago. The children were in a brooder with some chicks that were a week older. For some reason, they adopted the chicks. They even refrained from swimming for a while. It was pretty funny! The chicks even laid on the ducklings' backs!  It stopped being funny when I realized that they would not bond with their parents at all. But, I thought it would change.

The son moved on to lead his own flock with a pond. The chicks (oh, and the turkeys) are in a breeding pen. The female (Janice Joplin) spent most of the day trying to get in. I almost gave in, and let her. Almost. Then someone dropped off three drakes about a month ago. :th2 Mallards and a Pekin. Now here is where it gets interesting. I had Lily and Jojo who finally got the Muscovy girl (Aretha Franklin) to pretty much bond with them. Then there was Janice. With the three boys, everyone is sticking together for a majority of the day! My flock is happier with them!

Sadly, they can't stay. That is obvious. I am watching for overmating, and all seems okay. I am holding out because of the harmony that the boys have brought.

*Sigh* good luck. It sounds like you're overloaded with drakes.

Well the winter vortex has arrived, we've had a foot of snow in 4 days and the temps are rapidly dropping.   I bought a heated dog bowl that has been keeping the ducks with some fresh water and we have upped their extra's (kale, scrambled egg and warm oatmeal).

My pekins really aren't very impressed, first they informed me someone had stolen their pool and now all the grass (mud puddles) have disappeared too.  They are spending more and more time in their coop hiding from the evil white stuff and the wind.  They still complain first thing in the morning but aren't so quick to come out and tell us about it.

Its going to be a long long winter.
