TSC Chick Days Are STARTING NEXT WEEK!!!!!

I got mine at tsc a little over two weeks ago. I got RR barred rocks and black jersey giants. They have sold out and re stocked with bantam, buffs and production reds now as well as some ducklings. I thnik after we raisse the 18 chicks we have and they can move to the coop we are going to add some ducklings.

My silkies and mystery chick (cochin???) are almost 2 weeks old now. Any guesses on coloring? ALL of them have white wing feathers coming in, did i seriously pull 5 white silkies and another white one out??

oh well, i have 3 hatching wednesday, maybe one of them will not be white... i don't have room for all 9 anyways so maybe i'll sell some before i get too attached...

Just picked up another 6. Went to get pine shavings and left with more chickens. This time the girlfriend picked out 2 black australorps, 2 glw's, 1 black sexed linked and some king of suffex i forget which kind. And i'm suprised by some people saying tsc lets people pick up chicks. Could be just mine but in the last 2 yrs i've picked some up they've always had them fenced off with cattle gates and no one can touch unless its an employee getting the ones you want.

I think it depends on the person working at the time. Some folks just reach right in and the person working just doesn't know how to politely tell them they can't or they are just want to avoid conflict to make the sale. I wouldn't let my kids grab chicks or ducklings in the bins but that is my personal preference. I do try to go when a certain lady is working cuz she'll hold em up for u and she knows her stuff. This year I know a bit on how to sex certain kinds so I may be one of those that discreetly ply the trade, respectfully not JUST taking pullets cuz if every knowledgeable chicken person got all pullets then some newby (like me last year) would end up with a bunch of roosters and not want to get more chickens! :)
