Opal male bred to purple female, what happens? - Page 2

As luck would have it,the last 3 peachicks I hatched last year included a pair of Opal B/S,,,IT does take a lot longer for this color to be distinguished sex wise as the opal color comes in very slowly but once it starts the male gets laced feathers behind their necks.I will be adding a plain Opal and a Opal pied hen in with Opie this spring, and I may add a BSSP hen so we could have some interesting Opals this summer.

Did you get those Opals at Mt. Hope? Or did you hatch those? The plain Opal and the Opal Pied, I mean.

You might check with colorado peafowl:

http://coloradopeafowl.webs.com/

they have Purple Blackshoulder Silver Pied.

I think I saw some mature purples on craigslist in Penrose, might

look there too.

I hope to eggs this summer,

I have an opal male with opel hen, opal white eye hen, and a silver pied hen.

My purple pen has a coming 2 yr purple pied white eye male,

purple pied hen, purple BS silver pied  hen and a spalding  pied hen.

I was getting most of my peas from

Gwen Hibler, in Montezuma, Kansas- and her website is no longer up,

but she sold most all her stock to Brad Legg.

Boo, hhhoooo. hit.gifbow.gif

I think she said she was keeping some of her bronzes.

Penrose is where I got my Opal Silver Pied male (and my Opal S/P female, IB Pied male, and IB Blackshoulder), I don't think he has any more hens that are terribly fancy, which is what I'm looking for, but thank you very much! I wouldn't mind a couple more Bronze, I have one hen that I hatched in 2012, she might need a boyfriend in 2014. :)
