Are bantam chicks harder to raise than standard breed chicks?

Hi,
I'm planning on getting chicks this spring. I have a Friend that said bantam chicks would just die. Is this true? I'd rather not get pullets because the're more expensive. I was planning on getting:

3 mille fleur bearded d'Uccles
1 black australorp
2 easter eggers
1 buff orpington
2 white silkies

Also, will there be a good selection of chicks at feed stores?
 
I am a total newb to chickens, but this past August we bought 2 bantams and 2 large fowl. They grew up together in the brooder and in the coop and never have the bantams been picked on or had issues with their size. I wouldn't hesitate to get more of both sized gals if we could! So fear not, bantams aren't going to just die for no reason! :)
 
if you get banties chicks and regular sized ones the big ones can over run the little ones. you might keep the banties separate a week or so till they get strong.
