how to care for ducklings

I just have another quick question. My ducklings are 3 weeks now and are growing rapidly. They are currently in an indoor run however I feel they have out grown it as it becomes dirty very quickly. I also want them to get enough exersize for proper development. I do put them in the bath to have a good swim. Does anyone recommend a next stage housing for them? And when should I change their feed from ad lib chick crumb? There is so many different opinions! Thank you for your help there is a photo of my cayuga ducklings!

I think amiga gave you some very good advice! Just another thought... I was raising my babies in the middle of winter so you can imagine they were quickly outgrowing their brooder and it was WAY too cold to even get outside. I ended up using our bathtub as a brooder. We just filled it with a thin layer of straw and cleaned it daily. The kids thought it was pretty funny to have a bunch of ducks looking at you while using the restroom but it worked!

We just all had to share the same shower for a few weeks.

I havent read all the way thru yet but there is some great info here. I dont have ducks yet but have been toying with the idea of adding a few ducklings this spring. I have a lot to learn before jumping into that though.

This is our 2nd year of raising ducks but I am new to letting an adult duck raise them. She got broody so we let her. One duckling hatched from about 10 eggs. What should I do, should I get the chick starter for them or let mama get the feed? I am not sure if the duckling is going to survive though, as a chicken attacked her and now her beak is broken, is there anything I can do to help her?

Oh no! well take mama and her wee one and separate them so it doesn't get hurt any further. I would start a separate thread on advice on how to treat it too.

I block off my mama & her brood at first from the flock(only ducks, chickens are separate) i provide feed, water that the babies can reach as well as for mama.

Have you checked the other eggs? are they viable?

My six little cayugas are now happily living outside in relatively sunny England. However they are not so little anymore and I think I have come to the descision that I can't keep all six. Does anyone have any advice about sexing ducks? As I want them to go in pairs or threes however I am worried that they are all males! I would pay someone to sex them however I just don't know where to start or look. Also I don't want to upset them. Will they be ok with separation? They are very flighty as it is despite the amount of love I try to give them! Sorry for all the questions. I am so happy there is somewhere like this that I can ask!
