Non-GMO feeds are not as expensive as organic feeds. Β It is a healthy, but less expensive alternative.

I have just switched to the Hiland brand, 14%-16% layer, and have purchased it for $32 from my local supplier (St. Augustine, FL). This product is new to my supplier and I am truly grateful that I can get this product in my area without having to order online. Will update after a few bags with any noticeable egg quality or production.

I've had nothing but problems with Highlands non gmo feed from the start...never again...There was so much flour fine powder in the starter mix the chicks would throw everything out of the feeder looking for something edible.. I wound up having to add water making a mash in individual dishes made from weighted cat food cans glued to a ceramic tile...once wet, the grains were very visible and the chicks went wild....I had to do this about 6-8 times a day....They never ate much of the paste powder left behind, but it would have been tossed into the shavings otherwise...I'm sure that contained much of the added nutrients and things added to get their described nutrient % levels ... This concerns me for starting off chicks that are not free range...later I decided to sift the starter mix with an ultra fine sifter to get an edible product that I could mix in with other feed....OVER 25% was ground so fine it was unedible.....My Opinion on this feed as a starter?? A waste of time and money @ $32 a 50# bag...Go with another brand of non- GMO crumbles for chicks to start....πŸ˜’πŸ˜’

We tried Hiland once, it had worms/webs and was very dusty. Never bought it again.
