Once the chicks come out of the incubator, do I need to show them the food and water? I have their place all set up and the heat lamp was nice and warm before I put them in their temp home. No one has gone near the food or water. Do I need to show this to them?

Yes. You are their mommy now, and have to show your chicks what is good for them.

Dip the beak of each chick into the water in their waterer. (Put marbles or glass stones in the water for the first week, because baby chicks can fall asleep while they are drinking and can drown.)

Also, scatter some chick starter on paper towels and tap, tap to "call" the chicks over to see the feed, just like momma hen would do. That's in addition to having their feeder ready for them.

Thanks! I did have it all ready for them and had remembered the stones in the water. I have dipped them all several times (I assume like you would a kitten learning to eat) and no one seems interested. Hmm... Maybe they just do it when I am not looking. lol
