I will be picking up eggs on the 16th to hatch along with a few shipped and a few of my own, 25 total. Assorted marans, Delawares, bluebells, and silkies plus some surprise crosses from my own just so we can guess "who's your daddy?" I will be using and testing my homemade incubator. This will be my second time hatching, first time with this incubator but I've tested it for many days and it is holding temp within 2/10 of a degree throughout. It's time to put eggs in there and make some fuzzy chicks! Please join me :D

I am almost finished my incubator and starting to plan our hatch, my birthday is 7th Apr. Been thinking I might make that the hatch day.

This could work, although I need to source the next batch of eggs. I too have done one hatch before, but now am keen to give my home made one a run.

I will confirm in the next couple of days as I test my egg turner and humidity levels.

I am still trying to get some decent eggs!

On the short list is

3x Barnevelder's
3x Australorp,
3x Silver Penciled Wynnadotte's
3x Silver Laced Wynadotte's

and interested in a half dozen pure bred Araucana's.

If I can get some or all, then we are in for a birthday hatch!

I have found some more rural suppliers that have a great selection, but they would need to be posted or involve hundreds of kilometer round trip. I am not very keen on either making the set date.

We will do what we can to be in.

Think we have some sorted for Sunday pick up, then Sunday evening set.

Th lady's SLW has gone broody so we won't be getting of those, going to get 4 of the others, she is only worried we might not be able to make a full 4 Barnevelders in time, but think it should be close.

On the hit list is;
4x BV
4x A/lorp
4x S/Penciled/W

I am still keen on those Araucana's too, so might stretch it and pick up half a dozen fom another lady who has great pure bred stock.

The home made incubator is working well, just sorting out what I need to do to hit the right humidity levels, pre and post Day 18

I think I'll be setting mine early on Sunday, so with the time difference we should be on the same schedule. My mailed eggs should arrive Friday, pick up some Saturday, and fill in the empty spots with eggs from my hens. Getting excited to hatch again! My incubator has been running very consistent but ya just never know until the eggs are in it. Hoping for a better hatch than last time.

Getting closer! The few shipped eggs I ordered are on their way :) although when I tracked them last night I see they took a detour through Missouri I didn't expect. Bens-Hens are your eggs still being acquired? Hope so! Anyone else setting this weekend?
