HI everyone,

I'm just wondering if anyone is close to Redding CA? My husband and I have 3 children and live on 1 acre of land, we have 8 hens 1 rooster, one of our hens is sitting on 5 eggs, which will be hatching on the 14Th of march! We also have 2 dog, 2 cats, and a fish pond in our back yard! We are also going to be getting ducks, quail, meat rabbits, and meat chickens soon! Were just trying to find people in our community who share the same interests in becoming self efficient off the land! And hope to make some really good friends! :)

If you look on the CA - Northern thread, there are people on there who live in Redding and/or very close by. Lots of N CA chicken people on there.
 
Hi! I am from Redding! My husband, kids and I just got 12 chicks and hope to get 3 more tomorrow. Nice to see someone local :)
 
hello; i will be very soon. i am moving to the area from texas,with my 5 hens and a rooster,also,one very elderly mini bunny rabbit and my 19 yo son who will be attending college....everyone is predjudiced against roosters! this is my experience globally. barking dogs,oh well,but rooster? like i am a crazy person. we are looking to live self sustainingly off grid in the area/county. can you shoot me any referral ideas? i would appriciate it as we will be showing up with chickens riding shotgun!
 
It sounds like a wonderful adventure. My husband and I live in beautiful Burney.
We too have a little farm.

2 Barbados sheep, 4 yorkie poms, 2 cats, 9 chickens and 3 ducks.

The reason I am writing is I have neighbors very close. I bought some silkie chickens last spring. I made a deal with the seller that I would pay after I knew none of them were roosters.....well the next morning 2 of them were crowing.....I can't keep them. Would you like them. They are free, (silkies are expensive) and we would either meet 1/2 way or we would deliver them.
The one roster has a beautiful white collar and the other, a little smaller is silver gray all over. I could send pics if you want. They are healthy and we take great care of all our pets..

Please let me know as soon as possible.
