Aren't Cream Legbars supposed to lay blue eggs, not green?

Well I won an auction of cream legbar eggs and long story short I thought they were supposed to be blue cause the lady posted a picture of blue eggs with her auction, but the ones I received are green. So I'm a little mad that they don't match up. Will the chickens I hatch lay blue eggs or green, being that they're coming from green eggs? My friend says they won't lay blue eggs if they come from green ones.

This is the picture of blue eggs she posted with her auction.

And below are the eggs that I actually received verses the above pic.

LOL Yes they are a lovely green, but I was going for blue... I think someone said legbar eggs are normally blue but sometimes fade to green which in this case I'm hoping is true cause it would mean the ones that hatch out of this will lay blues. Green is still lovely though.

Since both the boys and girls contribute genes to the mix, its possible the babies may lay a different color than was sent to you. You'll just have to wait and see to know for sure!

You've probably read the Legbar threads. Some folks are using an online auction chart (OAC) (http://www.onlineauctioncolorchart.com/picturesoftheoac.html) to describe their colors, others the Ameraucana egg shell reference chart ( http://www.ameraucana.org/ClubMerchandise.html). Here is a chart that an awesome member Lonnyandrinna came up with for a cross-reference: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AooSdOwP3pJ6dF9ONHdfUVUwQ3BOVDZnNnVIWDlFd3c&usp=sharing

Here are excerpts form one of the threads about the colors: "The eggs are really definitely mint green-ish. They are pretty, and it is a nice saturation -- It really IS oac151 and as Anne had said somewhere, the colors fall on page 3 - which mostly has green-ish swatches or blue-green, teal for the dark ones. I wish I had oac213, 214 from my birds...

and

OK took some time and finished my OAC Chart to Ameraucana Chart comparision- will share in a minute. For now, this week's eggs are oac151 (D3) from Momma my favorite hen- a definite well saturated blue, most are oac 123 (C9), and one is even lighter, a little lighter than oac 81 (most comparable to D6)."

You can pull up the OAC online and do a rough comparison and post a number that comes close. Perhaps other folks can confirm if your color is similar to what they get.

eta: I can see why you would be frustrated because you thought you would get one color and received another. It could be the lighting she used or her camera. I would hate to think she manipulated the colors. I would send her a message and explain that there is a discrepancy between what she represented and what she sent and that she needs to advertise what she sells. There is nothing wrong with Green tint Legbar eggs, however I would not advertise my eggs as blue when they are green and in a nice way, she needs to know that you are disappointed.

Ok here it goes. Some cream legbars lay blue eggs. Some will lay a mint green. If you have a mint green strain let me know, I want hatching eggs. Any how, if you want nice blue eggs. I would look up on this forum, Auto-sexing Easter Eggers, they lat beautiful blue eggs. They also auto-sex, if that was not obvious.

Darn I did not realized I had already posted her for eggs :he still looking for mint green laying auto sexers. It is so hard to find and frustrating!

I will have mint green auto sexing hatching eggs if you are still looking for them. I have a cream legbar hen who lays mint green eggs.
