When are coturnix quails mating season? My males have been doing their mating call lately and also I have found foam in the males poop. If a male mates with a female, will that female lay eggs? I'm using natural lighting so it hasn't yet reached a full 14 hours for them to lay yet. Im really excited to hatched more baby quail!! :)
 
I think the males only lack vigor in cold weather but would mate all year if possible. Mating wont make them lay sooner. Some guys said the hens can hold viable chick batter for up to 3 weeks. Keep light on them and get the hens going
 
I just raked up a bunch of wild grass and stuck it in my quail run. It obviously made them excited and they started making nests and calling more.
