Starting my project this weekend, the "Coop De Gras"

I love all the clear roof panels. Which directions are you having those face?
I would like to do something like that for my single sloped roof, but I worry they will be getting too much sun in the summer time.

The clear panels face in a southerly direction. The sunrise is still a bit further to the north this time of year, but moves daily as we approach summer. I have hopefully planned accordingly. I do have one regret...but I can make it work when the time comes...the greenhouse was built square...not level...I began the base of the coop and used a level...there is a difference you can see from the side, but I will overcome it when I get to shoveling and leveling the whole thing out.

I would say that this time of year, the greenhouse has sun hitting it from 0630-1700 or so before the sun falls behind the roof of the house. Seems to be working well so far...I hear that we are getting snow in the next few days...the ultimate test!!!!

Day Two. It was quite colder this morning...I had to quit for a while and apologize to the dog. I was able to get the coop framed out, the walls and nest boxes are framed out. It was quite chilly and breezy and I had a party to go to at noon, so, not much progress today. We will make fast progress next weekend if not sooner! Here are the pics, please critique away!!!!

Stupid Snow! I soooo wanted to get the coop finished this weekend with help from the other little chickens in our house. We have all the kids home for the weekend! It is exciting and we look forward to it all the time!

I did realize that I forgot to put the floor in before building the walls...Big OOPS!

But...I Have a Plan!

I am going to install the floor in panels, after securing some framing. On one side, I am going to leave a panel that will drop out, or slide out...have not decided yet. This panel will be the POOP door, allowing us to rake the litter into a tote for removal and transport to the greenhouse next door, literally! I am also going to build a custom poop rake. My beautiful honey, being the awesome nurse that she is, is a germ-a-phobe...She cannot, will not, tolerate the pooh...that is my job. But...the chickens are there for us all to enjoy and to teach the kids some lessons and responsibility...how can I make them clean the coop and stay almost germ free...Wait until you see this!!! I am designing a revolutionary, custom made, quality manufactured device that will scoop the poop without even opening the coop! I am trademarking that statement right there...I feel like the comic Gallagher...not a slicer, not a dicer, not a chopper in a hopper....LOL!

Keep your eyes on the page here and I will announce our EXTREME POOPER SCOOPER!

It is looking really good! My dh painted a car once, in my front yard, when the cotton trees were losing their cotton. He did good painting but had little white tufts all over the paint. :)
