My white bantam went broody around three weeks ago and as of yesterday one of the eggs had hatched. She is sitting on some of her eggs and some contributed to her nest by my barred rock hen. This morning I checked up under her and there was still only one egg that has hatched, a barred rock egg. How long will she stay on the nest? She has quite a few eggs under her and I would like as many of them as possible to hatch, but wasn't sure how long she would sit on them before she took the little one outside. I haven't candled any of her eggs but I know they were fertile.

Maybe just another day or so. Keep your fingers crossed for the next 24 hours. I just tossed 3 eggs that I left under my banty in vain for the last 5 days after 1 chick hatched. She and another momma were just on and off too much(they switch nests, they switch chicks, they all end up in one nest, it's a little crazy).

Thanx....she has been very protective over her eggs and only gets off the nest for a few minutes every 3 days or so and then my barred rock hen sits on her nest to lay keeping the eggs warm. Then the bantam runs the barred rock off her nest, so I don't think inconsistent temp is a problem. I will prob run her off the remaining eggs tomorrow, candle and put any viable ones in the incubator.
