STAY AWAY FROM CHICKEN SALOON

I just thought I'd post this because I have seen some interest/questions going around about chicken saloon, specifically the tavern coop.

This review is about the Tavern, and their customer service.


I purchased the tavern in June, and I have been very dissapointed with the quality of the product, the usability, and the customer service. The coop's dimensions ended up being a bit exaggerated, so I had to make an additional run for my chickens because their measurements were smaller than I had anticipated. Also, there were several slightly damaged parts when it came, and the lock on the door had broken off. I was able to get passed these things, they all seemed rather minor, until maintenence came into play. The removable tray is so skinny that I can't even pull it out of the coop unless I take all the shavings out first, which entirely defeats the purpose of having it. Before I purchased the coop, I sent emails asking questions about the tavern, and they were always answered very promptly, and I asked if the coop was completely weatherproof and I was told it was ready to withstand all elements; rain, wind snow, everything. But, after the very first rain we had come through (it was a very light storm, raining lightly for a day or two) I found out that the coop wasn't entirely weather proof, like it was promised to be in the email, and water soaked in through the roof and made my hen house soaking wet. I sent them an email about it, and offered to send pictures, and as usual, they responded very promptly and told me to send pictures. I have sent them the email with pictures several times, and sense I have sent them proof of my coop's disfuntction, I have been completely ignored. I re-sent the email, to see if they didn't get it, but they continued to ignore me. They wouldn't respond to my emails, my calls, or continue to contact me in any way. After being ignored for three months, and trying to work through my badly flooding coop, I had to spend more money to fix the coop that should have been what it was said to be, and ended up spending an additional $60 on a tarp to cover the entire coop. After having to spend a total of nearly two hundred dollars because of their lack of customer service and honesty, I would say that it is not worth the money and the hassle, and to stay away from chicken saloon.

Is the roof wood? How is that waterproof?
IMO ALL coop manufacturers greatly exagerate the number of birds their products would house.

Yeah it is wood, I probably should have suspected... haha, yeah, the measurements were measured around the frame on the outside of the coop, and rounded up.

Having the same problem with them right now. Just sent them pics of all the water leakage and waiting for a response. Already had an issue after we ordered, when the coop that arrived came in a different companies box, which by the way that company sells for $50 less. After complaining they did give me a refund so I am still trying to be patient until I see how the rain issue is resolved. Now I'm not so optimistic.

I hope it works out for you! And I read about t few other people that didnt have that problem by painting or adding a later to the roof.

I wish we would have seen your post earlier, we are new to the forum here. We always strive to keep our customers happy, as we have thousands of them at this point, and completely back up our products 100%.

I don't know the name or order number of your purchase, so I can't speak to it specifically, but as you probably read from our website we warranty any parts on our chicken coops for 30 days. Typically the only problem is that in shipping, on rare occasion, a part can break, and we will immediately get a spare part shipped out to you. It becomes harder after the 30 day period as FedEx will no longer work with us on it.

And yes, you were exactly right in the other post you made. Although our chicken coops do come pre-treated with a water-based treatment, it does help to add a seal (something like a Thompson's water-based seal), or painting it also can do the trick, just as an added benefit to keeping water out, although for the most part it is far, far less than 1% of orders that seem to have any trouble with water getting through.

We hope that any customer who feels they haven't been treated fairly according to the terms of our website would always call us so we can work it out!

I purchased an expensive coop from the Chicken Saloon and had a carpenter assemble it for me. It is a piece of junk that now and has always sat abandoned in my front yard. I only keep it there because it is cute although unusable. We ordered it when we got our baby chicks and let it set in the box unassembled until it was time for the chicks to go out. Once assembled we immediately noticed it was a piece of crap and within days the roof hinge and wood had splintered fro the roof . The locks, hinges and pull out tray are certainly not safe and are the cheapest quality . To put birds in this coop is a certain death for them. It is not predator proof by any means. When it rains, the inside gets soaked. When we complained we were blown off because we waited to assemble it until we needed it. Their "guarantee" so they say is a few weeks. Of course, day old old chicks are not mature enough to be put in a coop in early May. Bad customer service, horrible product, please beware if you buy from this company, and make sure you assemble the coop immediately and certainly before the warranty is up.

I wish I would have seen these posts before I purchased The Ranch from Chicken Saloon. I too am extremely disappointed, the quality is POOR to say the least, the prices are high, and the runs are grossly undersized for the amount of chickens they claim can make the coop their home.
