I hatched the chicks that were in the incubator 8/8 got 4 blue 3 black and 1 white. All grew up very healthy and i got 5 boys, 3 hens. I kept the 3 hens and 1 roo, sold the other 4 boys. They were all very beautiful.

I'm a new Silkie owner. I have one hen and would love to have a rooster, but I live in the city. Do Silkie roosters crow loud just like other Roosters?

Just wanted to show off our beloved silkie. We have totally fell in love with her. She has a great personality compared to the other hens. She is so layed back and easy to care for. She just walks around like she doesn't care about what the other birds are doing. She always comes right up to us and will even let our 3 year old son pick her up and hold her. Gentlest soul ever. We call her Silk.

Yes, I would like to join your club especially if you know a lot about Sikies. We are in the process of putting up a fence so we can have chickens. We would like to have black & white female silkies who are ready to lay. And we would also like to have 3 others layers for normal sized eggs. Any info you could provide as to where to get silkies would be greatly appreciated. We live in Lower Alabama next to Pensacola Fl. So we have 2 states to look at for purchases. Thanks De

Hello,

I recently rescued a "silkie" hen from some pretty awful conditions: It was overcrowded, she basically was just picking through garbage, and she had never been handled. I was told she was "healthy, a year old and a pure bred silkie" lol. She is missing the majority of her feathers on her wings, and appears to have leg mites. She also lays blue eggs...... does this mean she is likely a cross? Any suggestions would be helpful :). She is currently quarantined from my other hens, seems to like being held (when I can catch her), and is eating/drinking/laying eggs. She is very adamant about trying to come inside the house, which seems strange since she definitely wasn't in a house before. She darts in my back door anytime it is open and settles down in the entry way. Is this normal for this breed? Thanks for any input you might have! :)
