So we went to tractor supply tonight to look for some chickens. We saw red sex link pullets. My question is how accurate are they with breeds/pullets? I'm not sure what a pullet is supposed to look like compared to a roo. But I would rather start out with 6 hens rather than the 15 I'd have to order online.

It's 100% accurate with sex links hence the name. They are sexed by color at birth. The problem arises with TSC's staff having no idea what is what in their deliveries. They'll put Cornish cross in a red pullet bin and what not. If you google images of chicks of the breeds they say are in stock then you'll have an excellent idea what your getting.

The packers at the hatchery DO make mistakes on these Red Sex Links. Those of us who've ordered them by the box full have often remarked that occasionally far too many cockerels sneak through. It happens.

The point is that when they begin to drop the baby fuzz and start to feather in, which they do very, very quickly, the "mistakes" show up right away.

I really wish I would have taken some! Ill gave to take done tomorrow, we were going to get them tomorrow...but if I get quick response like today I might be able to get them tomorrow anyway lol
