Are there any decent breeders/hatcheries in central Florida? Lakeland/Plant City/Winter Haven/Mulber

I am in Sarasota and have 10 standard chickens and just acquired a bantam. Do you know if Come See Come Save sells bantams or if that lady in Lakeland has them? I just wanted to add a couple more. Are they pullets or chicks?

I purchased 2 Silkies from this place in spite of the fact that it was filthy and their was no food in any of the cages. I should have listened to my inner voice because I was stupid to buy from her and we became very attached to the two pullets. To make a long story short, one of them lost all use of her legs one day. Her symptoms were initially much like Marek's Disease so I called the breeder and asked if they had any outbreaks or if they had vaccinated. She said she didn't know what that was!

Xrays and a visit to an Avian Specialist revealed a congenital deformity in her spine in 3 places. The vet said, it was caused by a nutritional deficiency in the hen that laid her egg. (Flashback to empty feeders.) I purchased in December and had to put down our sweet pet in April. Another call to this woman resulted in, "you'll have to talk to my husband".

I waited until today to talk to them so I could keep the emotion out of the conversation. All she could say is "we don't have Silkies" and hung up on me.
She advertises on craigslist but doesn't use her "Feather your nest" name anymore, so if someone tells you they're located at 8404 GIBSON OAKS DRIVE LAKELAND......DON'T DO IT!

Since there were a few positives and a very strong negative, does anyone else have any feedback about Feathers in North Lakeland?

They keep the birds in deplorable conditions. No food, no water. Severe over crowding that leads to horrible cannibalism. They buy sick birds in bulk and then re-sell them. They are not knowledgeable on breeds....she will lie her pants off to sell a chicken.

Thanks! this is before we purchase.. Inevitebally from another person that seemed to do the same thing. we ended up keeping, though one died. guy is out of Lake Wales. Sold us 5 hens, 2 ended up Roosters. we bought 5 day old from Lays Western.. they are 3 months now. currently 7 eggs in incubator due this saturday.

I've been looking for a silkie chick in Lakeland all week, i came across feather your nest and called yesterday. She said they're permanently out of business. Just letting y'all know.

I realize that this thread is a bit old but you're all locals. Do you know of anyone currently selling Brahmas or Jersey Giants?

I am having 11 Silkie's hatch this morning under mama. a few may be Frizzle / Silkie mix. South Lakeland.

Not sure of any hatchery's in the area, i have leaned to hatching my own to be sure everything is right. i have a clean setup. kids play with them every day. its all for fun but the eggs sure help out too

Anyone know of anyone selling/trading ducks in the area? Nothing really on craigslist other than Muscovy and Pekin. I have tried to reach out to a couple or people and no response back.
