need advice on using a covering for plywood floor of coop

Thanks. I just mix salt, water and lime together and painted on. It sure does work for smell in the wood.

Good day, took me quite awhile to read the entire thread but helpful it was.

Everyone is mentioning using black jack 57 on the top of the plywood. What about the edges and underside?

I have an 8x10 pressure treated floor frame with joists (sounds quite small based on some of the mansions mentiond here ;) ). The floor joists will sit on 3 4x4 skids to allow airflow for moisture. I will using painted wood furring around all the edges but still imagine that there will be some moisture from snow in the winter time. I am using standard 3/4 (approx) CDX plywood.

Should I paint/seal the bottom and edges of the plywood before I furr them in? If so, with what? I would appreciate a lowes link or something. I am notorious for buying "almost" the right thing.

Much appreciated

JackE,

I did consider the floor coating you mentioned when I built my coop.

I did have one concern though, How long did it take for this coating to dry?

Its meant to be a roof coating and in normal use would be exposed to direct sunlight and dry pretty quick. How long did this Blackjack take to dry until you couldn't smell the petroleum component anymore?

Alex
My Blackjack dried fairly quick, around 2 hours but it was very hot when I was applying it. There was also a big fan blowing on it.
