Call Ducks Finally Hatched

One is good I can see a heart beat and veins the others I don't see no veins :/ I guess if I get one little ducky out of eight I will be happy then none :/ today is day six guess I will wait and see if anymore show signs of hope . I ordered more call duck eggs in case only one hatches so it won't be alone

ok, so FINALLY they are getting in the water! my little drake is better about nipping but still nips some.... its my big drake that gives them problems.... i keep the water hose out and spray him in the face when he comes close. i can't tell if hes trying to beat them or breed them... either way...they are too young and hes getting a face full of water!

I have my two little ones out as well and the older ones do the same thing, they chase my little ones, I think it may be a pecking order not sure if that applies with ducks but it surely seems like it..

omg! hes trying to breed them! and hes after the khaki one in particular...i had to pull him off her yesterday! they are only about 12 weeks old...she was freaked too...i'm sure this is normal but wow....seems like they are so young for that sort of thing!

Update none of those eggs made it :( bought some more and hatched out three cuties :)
400
going to keep them hope one is a girl :)

Great thread. I'm going to try my hand at incubating some call duck eggs. Do you recommend still air or circulated in the incubator for calls? Thanks Tammy

I use circulated, some people I believe have used still air, so I guess it's just a trial and error. The circulated air works best for me..

Thanks. I'm excited but a little nervous because I've heard that they're hard to hatch and don't want to screw it up. Have had such a hard time finding any breeders here in FL though and shipping is a bit much so thought I'd give hatching my own a try. Will update once I start the process. Thanks again for the advice.

One thing to watch right now, I don't know how your weather is but we have been having some HIGH humidity, with high humidity outside or in your house, could have an impact on your incubator. I do not add water to my incubator when hatching out call ducks because they thrive on low humidity but I do sponge mine three times a day. So just to give you a heads up, if your humidity is high in your area adjustments need to be made with your incubator..
