Hi All,

My Indian Runner male is completely obsessed with attacking my Blue Swede drake to the point where all he does is v-line straight to him to fight. I expected some fighting but it seems a little over the top....

I have them separated in their pen and at night but I want to let them free range...I have a pond which is one of the reasons why I got ducks...but even when I let them out the runner goes nuts on the swede and the swede just keeps coming back.

If I let them out will the swede eventually realize he's out and go find a different spot on the pond or will he just keep coming back? I was going to let them figure it out but the swede was getting quite bloodied up so I figured best to intervene.

Also...I have 6 hens coming in May to dilute my male to female ratio a bit more....will this help or am I just fighting a losing battle?

Thanks!

More females is good. What is the ratio now? I'll be honest though after my morning where my oldest drake ending up bleeding from the nares after a bad drake fight, i don't know if space will make much difference, mine are free ranging too, they have acres to roam and 4 girls a piece yet they just don't quit sometimes, this was actually the worst usually it's a few minor scratches & so forth.

All you can do is try, it's hard to give a one size fits all answer because there are quite a few variables, my drakes are separated at night and the other one is younger and raised here! but i may be making a difficult choice soon. I don't like things getting that bad. GL to you!
