Would like some impacted crop information

I was wondering how common it is for crops to become impacted in chicks. What an impacted crop actually looks like and how can you prevent it? Some of my chicks seem like their "chest" is a little big but they seem to be eating fine. Maybe overeating. haha. What kind of poops should 1-4 wk old chicks have?

They can be a bit greedy and really pack it in.  The trick is to check the crop first thing in the morning before they start eating.  Of course it should be flat then.
