new to raising chickens or rooster

Hello new here n raising chickens. I live in greenspoint tx not sure if im allowed to have chickens or even rooster. I went and bought 4 baby chicks turns out to be i got a black sex link,barred rock, sussex, and apparently the lady gave me a rooster from a straight run which is a buff brahma. So im not sure if i even got a good breed or even a good egg layers .... What ya think. Is this a good rooster
 
Hello from Oregon & welcome to BYC. The hens are pretty good layers - never owned a buff brahma but I have heard from a few people on here that they are well liked :)

You can call the city or go online & look up regulations for your area :) A few hens are usually fine but if your in the city limits a Rooster may not be.

It depends - some its color , feather sheen , spurs , leg thickness, large combs - or wait till it crows :) If you know the type of chicks you can research in the learning & breed tabs above
