Tomorrow we set chicken eggs at the nursing home with our 4-h group. We had one meeting to discuss what makes a good hatching egg. We checked out the size and shape of eggs, we checked eggs for fertility, and how to care for eggs you are going to hatch.

We set 3 duck eggs last Sunday.

I used some of the info from this site from Hatching 101. I gave them credit for the info, I hope that is ok.

I think this is a GREAT thing to do with patients!! Especially in a nursing home. They will have so much to look forward to each day checking on the temps and staring at the eggs. I just set 2 incubators full today lol. One has 102 quail eggs, the other has 49 chicken eggs. Lol I had too many and didn't want to waste any!

We had the snow storm of the year today that we had to brave to set our eggs. We did it! We talked about how to hold a chicken, how to bathe a chicken, and how to dress for the fair. I took two of our chicks for the kids to practice holding a chicken and to pretend bathing. We set our eggs but the other eggs didn't show up with eggs.

This morning I set 12 silkies blue and also black lavender split. Seller said there may be a showgirl mixed in. Then i added 18 barnyard mixes from my flock i can't wait.

I want your incubator and all the eggs. I look forward to your hatch.

I had it in mobile view and subscribing wasn't there. Also realized we will be hatching on the fifth of may so we can all be part if the second annual cinco de mayo hatch along
