post pics of grow out pens

I only have the four girls... they are just over a week old. My one friend said they can't go into the coop until eight weeks, but they will definitely outgrow the brooder by then. I know some of you put them outside earlier. Would really appreciate another opinion. It is very warm here... can they go into the coop sooner?

I think you can put them out earlier if you keep an eye on them & take time to go out and get them socialized to you. If the lowest temp overnight is too cold, then put heat on at night only. Make sure they can't squeeze through wires made to contain larger birds. Make sure they can't fall from heights made for larger birds. Make sure they are safe from cats and other predators.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I am currently debating enclosing the space underneath my coop to use as a second coop space. Then building a separate run off of it where the new chickens can see and hear the flock but not get attacked. Glad to hear that this works.

I'm in SoCal and am wondering if I can skip the grow-out pen and move the girls straight into the coop when they outgrow the brooder. This is the coop I ordered:

It honestly doesn't look much bigger than some of the pens pictured here, plus it is warm here in the fall.

Thoughts appreciated!

I started to build a similar design BUT the chicks have to learn to go up the ramp. I've had to crawl in and get them the first few times and it was messy. Not something I relish doing again, which is why the thing just sits unfinished.

Too I always look for ease in cleaning. I've just emptied a mucky pool and I don't want to do that again. I had a pic. It was one of those round, blue, kiddie pool surrounded with fencing and a room off the garage. Dust and wood shavings everywhere. Not again. They need an outdoor coop. Easy to clean.

Keep in mind "grow out" and "brooder" are two different things.
