I'm sorry about your bird, JacP. I have lost some special birds to me over the years and saved some. I know how it feels. We never stop learning when it comes to treating health problems. Impacted crops are one of the hardest common problems to cure in my opinion. Often it is because of the gizzard or some intestinal problem. I'm glad you cared for your hen.
You did the right thing. It certainly wasn't from lack of care or effort that you lost her.
Putting up a good fight for a lost bird, is part of the learning cycle. It is hard to know that you cant always win. The very FACT that you tried shows how much you do care. You now have much more knowledge than you did before, and will be calmer and more measured in your path. I feel for you as your little one is gone. There will be more as long as you wish it. I bid you peace huggin your birds. I am at peace with mine.
