Breeding Golden Duckwing Marans

Three Silver Salmon hens. The one in the center in the rear looks like either a Golden Duckwing or a meld of Silver Salmon and Black-Tailed Buff.

The bird above looks like a Silver Salmon hen.

This boy looks like a Silver Duckwing.

I've listed 12 hatching eggs on Ebay. Does anyone else here breed these?
interesting birds. A nice color collection. Can go several ways with it, colorwise. Golden Duckwing do not breed true because they have one gold and one silver gene. About 1/3 of the chicks should be Golden Duckwing. A start for someone wanting to explore the Salmon, Duckwing and Black-Tailed Buff colors.
Best,
Karen

Thanks for the responses. A few of those recently pictured are only about 4 months old and their plumage is still changing a bit. I'm thinking about putting the Silver Salmons and Silver Duckwings in their own pen and see what develops.

Quote: Sounds like a good idea. These Golden Duckwing, Silver Salmon, Golden Salmon birds, really need to be bred true to color as possible because it is so easy to screw up the color purity with modifiers. Silver Salmon is a name for both male and female of the variety. Silver Duckwing is the name for the Silver Salmon male only.
Best,
Karen

I picked up a Golden Duckwing Roo and 6 more Silver/Golden Salmon hens from Bob Terwilliger Tyrone, Pa. The breeder behind his stock are Lynnrae Troples, Alecia Albury, Dave Williams, and Joe Carlson.
