missing peafowl

I mean letting the females out will that help keep those 2 males around the one that does stay by himself looks so lonely, and if they are getting feed its from bird feeders cause I know some of the neighbors don't like them over there/ and others don't even know there over there, and they have fresh fruits and good food and treats everyday here so they shouldn't have left cause of better food, I mean those two males get picked on hard like get mounted by another male and they are both missing feathers on the back of there head/neck from being mounted, just wondering when I get them back if I let the females and other male out if that will help or switch them with the females and lock the 2 males inside for awhile.

I have had my hen fly off at night a long ways prob 1/2 mile or more and she was back by the morning never left our yard after that! she is know locked in a breeding pen. till after laying season

How to put ID Bands on your Pea Fowl!
Mine have disappeared many times and for many reasons. Usually seeking a quiet dog-free area to nest. Always got them back eventually. Finally found a way to BAND them. I bought saddle and bridle name plates from the tack shop. one size fits hens, the other fits males. Had them engrave just my tel #, as large as possible. I filed down the sharp edges and corners, making them smooth as possible. Hammered them into circle rings- (used the handle of a small screw driver to mold them around). Then, at night when the pea fowl are roosted in the hen house- (which mine do in winter or bad storms) I sneak in, flash light between my teeth, and close the rings around their legs. Make extra bands- and make sure the bedding is clean. Just so happens, Peacocks kick when you try to squeeze something around their leg, and brass bands are the exact color of straw bedding. (-: Now that they are banded- ofcourse, they never leave home. But I have also learned a few things over the years.
Spring time nesting season- is the biggest time of concern for leaving. To keep my birds close to home during that time , I really ramp up the food and treats. Training them to a constant routine is really important. I call my chickens, and peafowl home every night at 5- when they come running, I feed them treats they cant resist. Hard boiled egg yolk- which, yes is extreme- but an irrisistable training aid- and they will come home every time you call(even during nesting season). No, I don't feed egg yolk all the time, just when training young fowl, retraining nesting hens and periodically to keep every one adoring me. I also use blue berries(frozen if you don't live in Maine) Kraft Mac N cheese (almost as good as egg yolks) and freeze dried meal worms. Those are just the choice treats that I reserve for keeping their internal clocks set to running home at 5:00. By the way-I have found hard boiled egg yolk to be a life saver for sick birds or frail chicks. It won't cure them, but packs in all the nutrition they need in a softer, easily digestible form. After all, it is what they lived on inside the egg.
Keeping a mirror in the pen or yard, will keep the male home. Auto glass places and such sell plexi glass mirrors by the sheet. I got a couple "scratch & dent" pieces-for a song, they drilled holes in the corners for me (for wiring to the fence) and my male never leaves home now. PLEASE, PLEASE be carefull how you face the mirror- you don't want to burn your birds eyes out -or set fire to the woods, when the sun hits it. Okay?
Thats all I got- hope it helps.Blue in front of his mirror. And if you can see -here is the Band on Blue's leg.

I'mm on this forum because my hen just flew off. Should she come back as well?
my peahen flew off last month after mating or a few days thereafter...
she had dropped a soft shell egg the night before from her perch..
so I am hoping she is nesting somewhere and will return if or after
her eggs hatch......thinking that might be next week sometime
