I'm at a loss

This is the oddest gathering of people I have seen in a long time. My father, uncle, his step children, my half siblings, my step dad's x wife, and her children (by him) are here, have been here a lot since the past couple of days, and no one is killing each other.
 
This will be a bonding time for you and your family, however sad. People start to remember what is important in life. At the end he will have the love of his family. I'm glad you have some help and sorry for your troubles.

I just overheard a conversation with my step father and his ex wife. she said softly " i never thought I would be sitting here like this with you, having this conversation with you. I tried to stay away as much as possible.. not get between you and the kids, not make anything uncomfortable."
Step dad laughed and said " well people change and grow up"
I think she playfully threatened him then. It was sweet.
