I was away for awhile and my boyfriend was taking care of my button quail and he called toady to say they have 3 babies. He missed throwing out a few eggs and they hatched. I have no clue what to do with the babies. Should I take them out of the parents cage and put them in their own? Can they eat the adult crumbles? What temperature should they be at? I'm not happy about this and am very stressed, we are moving and I have been trying to rehome the adults we have now we have three adults and three babies to rehome I they survive because I don't know how to care for the babies. Any help is really appreciated.

The parents are sitting on them and my bf says they are taking care of the babies but one doesn't look so good. He can't move his head an my bf says he has a wound on his head.

the parent may or may not take care of the chicks. The wound is a bad sign. If you want to save these babies you need to remove them and set up a brooder, you can find info on one just search brooder on here. You can try to leave them with the parents and just let nature take its course, if the parents kill them so be it. But you need to be sure you have a safe water dish for the chicks and finely ground feed, like corn meal size, for them too.
to make the water dish safe use a jar lid or shallow dish and place some stones in it so the chicks can not fall in and get wet or drown.
You could post them on craigslist if you really want to get rid of them.
good luck

Thank you for your reply. I will try setting up a brooder for them and I will have to find smaller food the crumbles the parents are eatting seem to big. I have tried Craigslist for at least 6 months now and haven't found anyone, I just keep trying and hopefully we will find someone eventually.

I use a blender to make the chick starter a powder. I use jar lids for the food and water for the first few weeks. Put marbles in the water lid. A 60 watt light bulb put in the brooder light and elevated on two bricks long ways in a 10 gallon tank will keep them warm enough. I use that non-slip drawer stuff on the bottom on the tank for the first few weeks also. Good luck.

Thank you that's pretty much what I have done. We lost the one that wasn't doing well but the other two are doing well and are really cute.
