Hello everyone, we are new here and posted our introduction thread here:https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/788713/hello-everybody-thanks-for-allowing-us-to-join

Here is a very interesting question...

Our house is in an HOA, however... it backs up to our friends land, literally, where my backyard stops, his land starts. I am attaching a picture for people to see.

My question is this, IF the HOA would not allow us to have chickens, and my friend says to build a coop 1 foot over his property line in a cleared out area of the woods, what would you do? He literally will defend his right to do what he wants on his land, and the HOA knows its his land.

It's an interesting question I think, and the coop looks like its in my backyard or close to it. Thoughts?

I understand wildlife and making sure the chickens are safe from predators etc, but aside from all that...

The yellow is the factual property line where his land starts, and the red area is where he suggested.

Question 1: What are your thoughts?
Question 2: If you were the HOA and it wasn't your and to govern what would you do?

Picture attached.

I'm thinking the HOA might try to hassle you, but they have absolutely no jurisdiction over what happens on your neighbor's property. If you really want chickens and can handle the hassle, go for it.
