Baby chicks kept indoors until theyre 4 weeks old?

Hmmm...I have been taking mine out since they were 3-4 weeks old, putting them in a play yard covered with a blanket, in an area of the grass that has ants. I did it on purpose. I thought they'd love it. Chickens eat all kinds of bugs. I am a noob, but unless the chicks are getting swarmed, I would think it wouldn't be an issue. I have gotten bit more than my chicks have.

I take mine out during the day, weather permitting, and let them stay in the run until evening. I check on them every hour or so, then I bring them back in at night. They seems so much happier outside taking in the vitamin D!

so i guess ill be letting them play outside while keeping an eye on them. AHHH its just them darn ants omg lol i hate them so much.

I kicked mine out of the house at 2.5wks and they went into a brooder in the garage. Around 3.5wks old I finished their playpen and they started spending time out in the driveway and yard. I started at an hour and every day left them out longer and longer. Mine are 8 wks old now and STILL have no coop

but we've finished a temporary chicken run for them to spend the entire day in.

This was their playpen, I left half the top open and just placed a piece of plywood over to serve as the door and shade

This is their new fancy run. My brother had a kennel and dog house not in use so he let us use it. It's been wonderful and it's so fun to be able to go in there and hang out with them

They love and it and the best part is that they can be out there even in rainy weather like today

Mine 6 babies were out in the run today, and as the sun was setting I asked my son to go out and get them. We always put them in a Rubbermaid tub to carry them back and forth. He walks in and says, "Here's your six piece bucket mom!" Lol

I am getting five 7 week old barnevelder chicks on the weekend. They have been outside with the mother from hatching stage. I was wondering at this age do they roost on a perch at night and will they be warm enough on their own in the coop, we are in winter now in Australia and the temps at night are about 50 degrees F? Any hep would be great.
