Naming your farm/homestead?

We have rabbits and chickens and eggs and produce and herbs and plants and sometimes we sell some of them. I have been playing around with naming our our little business. But the problem is I don't know how to define us! We live in town on 2/3 of an acre - not what I would call a farm. Homestead? I don't want to just say rabbitry, because the chickens are a good part of us. Any ideas?

I'm not going to be any help, because naming my place was easy. It's the Olmstead Homestead. Not fair, I know - I have a euphonious surname in this situation.

My property is the same size, just a teensy tad over two-thirds of an acre. (The county lists it as .67 acre.)

What attributes are on your land? I have cedars and Ponderosa Pine, so I could have used Cedar Something, souning better than pine something, I guess. I keep chickens, ducks, a few geese, and some turkeys. Feathered Farm could have worked.

Look around and see if any natural features could be part of your farm name.

What about something in your name about 'acre'? Since that is the aspect you point out in your post?

If you are 'sometimes' selling some stuff, you'll be a lot more consistent if you name yourself, advertise with that name, present it as a business - not as a 'sometimes' thing. Especially if you wish to expand at all or become more consistent with customers.

Our farm is named after the original name of the street (changed by the time we got here) - Shadyside. Or if you have features that make the property stand out - like Pine Tree Point or Sweet Spirea Lane.......Dandelion Glade....etc.

Hope this inspires you a bit!

I read a ton of threads about naming farms, and eventually just went back to the original name I had picked out. Definitely stay away from naming specific animals because you never know what you'll expand to include. :)

Snake Road Ranch. We live on Snake Road, nothing creative really. I call the place Casa von Bargen, to be honest. We took our geography into account before we settled on Snake Road Ranch, did we want a name based on Wyman Ravine? Or Wyman Creek? With the name we chose everyone knows where we are. That was simple for us.

B Lazy Acres. Our last name starts with a "B" and it makes a funny play on the old brands where they have a "Lazy B" (which is a letter B laying on its side). We changed it from "B Lazy Ranch" to "B Lazy Acres" when we added in chickens and garden goods.
