So my little silkie show girl decided to get broody and sit on some eggs I have a silkie roo and a maran roo..... they are with a silkie hen and a bared rock hen ... My little silkie hatched two eggs yesterday and Im pretty sure they were silkie mix eggs , I really cant be positive because I didnt see the eggs that hatched just found the chicks with my silkie ,,, but i did notice that the babies have feathers all the way down their legs ,,, I was wondering if anyone has ever had a silkie show girl maran mix and if they had pics Im very excited to see how they will turn out ,, here are some pics I took of what they look like now

not seen or got the mix but wow such cute chicks

and I wanted to mention

I wasn't sure to look at the chicks or that perfect French polish you have on your nails

looks cool

Hi Poopnroost,

I have tried several times to upload a picture of my Blue French Copper Marans Silkie Cross. For the longest time, the chick just looked like a Blue Marans, and then realized that his skin was black and he had five toes. The feathered legs didn't alert me, because all my Marans have feathered legs.

I think I read somewhere that in order to get a naked neck, they have to breed to another naked neck (or Showgirl). Although I have one Showgirl, I have not hatched any Showgirls yet. Most likely your Showgirl will throw feathered neck chicks unless your Roo is a Showgirl as well. You didn't mention what your Silkie Roo was or his coloring. There is a thread on BYC with pictures of Silkie Crosses. Your chicks are adorable.

Congrats on your two baby chicks. It can be a bit deceiving at first, but if one chick is smaller than the other, with black skin, black beak, black feathered legs and five toes, you may have one purebred Silkie chick and one Silkie Cross chick. Enjoy.

sorry yes I have a silkie showgirl roo same coloring as mommy ... didnt think on counting toes going to run and do that now thanks

Wow, those feathers are pretty patterned. Looks to me like these chicks are White Silkie rooster over your Barred Rock hen indeed. Absolutely lovely. I don't think they are Marans Roo over Silkie hen. Here's a picture of my Marans Silkie cross. As a chick it just looked like a Blue Copper Marans like all the other Marans only it had five toes and a fluffy head.
