Looking for a few laying hens. I would like to find a local breeder, b/c it seems all the hatcheries I've looked up require a minimum number of chicks to be purchased....and i dont need 20 birds! I went to a small local poultry sale and there were only leghorns, roosters, bantems, pigeons. Where in SW Ontario (within a few hours of Woodstock) can a buy a few hens/pullets:
heavy build, docile/friendly, moderate egg layers...Wyandotte, Sussez, Orpington and Brahma breeds all seem nice (or others of similar characteristics).
