Koi and duck

I'm going to build a small pond on my back yard for my duckling Phil, the pond will have a pump and filter etc. (I will be keeping it as clean as possible, ducks are pretty messy). It's just one duck though, so I was wondering if I could add a koi fish or two. I know ducks enjoy koi food too so that could be a plus, but I read that duck poop contains a lot of nitrogen that can kill the fish. So, my question is, is there any way to have a duck and koi share a pond? Maybe a special filter for the poop, some kind of special plant, ANYGHING.

Ditto. The duck will eat the koi if small, if large it will injure the fish. The duck will also inundate the pond with poop, which is unhealthy for koi. Don't waste your money on anything of value. Buy some feeder fish and put them in the pond... they will help keep algae at bay and entertain the duck. They are also pretty to look at. Some of our feeder fish are over six inches long now!

Yeah, that would produce a big old mess and i don't know about round your parts but here Koi are pricey! i'd be ticked if my ducks were dining on them.

I have a small Koi pond and two HUGE fish they don't touch them but we also strongly discourage the use of the pond anyways.
