Belgian Malines Have Arrived!!!

Yes, they are like barred rocks that way. My boy started to look darker after a while though, but now that he's older the feathering is definitely lighter.
18 Malines eggs on day 19 today, spread out under 3 broodies. Woo hoo!

Oh my gosh! I HAVE to get one of these! My dog is a Belgian Malinois! What a cute pair they would make!! Where did you get them?

Oh my gosh! We love Belgian Malinois! Currently have 2 good mutts doing flock protection, but maybe in a few years.....
My hatching eggs & chicks came from a breeder in Ontario, Canada. His name is Bart Nagel. He also has a website, bulbsoffire.com for his garlic business. He is the only breeder I know of, but plans are in the works to generate more interest in this fabulous breed. With more exposure, we hope to create future breeders & accessibility for all. It's an extremely rare breed that deserves a chance. There are a handful of others here in Ontario that have owned these birds for a while longer than us. They will sometimes post their 'teen' Malines pics on my thread on the provincial poultry forum. Anywho, glad you stopped by! I'm always happy to see the interest! Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know. This is a breed I will have to be on the look out for. I had no idea there was such a thing.

Me either until last year. When I learned Bart was selling hatching eggs & lived only 2 1/2 hours away, I couldn't resist! I'm really hoping this is the right breed for us. I've done a lot of research in the last year to find the one perfect breed (or 2). Sounds like a great fit for us. I'm also considering Bielefelders next year. Those will be the only breeds I'll be concentrating on.
