Wow, they are beautiful! Looking at those pictures took me back to when my magpie was duckling. She got used to the hot Texas weather quick and didnt seem to like the one day a year we get snow. Unfortunately, this hasn't been her year. Around March she ate some slugs which didn't agree with her stomach and weakened her legs for a couple of weeks. She finally healed and walked with joy all over the yard foraging until early June when I was given 7 new ducklings. She started sleeping behind her nest area as the ducklings invaded the nest. She was sleeping between two bricks that were placed to prevent squirrels from getting into the pen from my neighbors side of the fence. I didnt notice until I saw her limping and saw she had developed bubble foot. She has improved and is walking for longer periods of time now. Her rehab in a water filled been has been doing miracles both times she's been sick. I was also looking for a thread about magpies and only found an old threadYou know, just today I was searching for a breed thread just for Magpie ducks. I found some threads with questions about them...but no threads just for Magpie ducks. I have a trio. Two quackers and a drake. I am trying to socialize them...not working as well as planned. They're still too frightened, despite daily, gentle handling since they hatched. I mean, they are gems if I am actively holding them. They relax and fall asleep. But they don't want to be picked up without freaking out! Anyway, here they are! These pictures were actually taken today. They're panting a bit in these pictures, because it is very hot out. Today is the first day they've been let out of their temporary/introduction cage. Enjoying the green, green grass! They loved picking at the yellow flowers. My pekin female led them to the pond...which is sadly dried up for the summer. It fills with spring melt, then slowly empties. It has always been temporary. They are losing their yellow baby fluff and turning white! In the shade of a small tree. They're not used to this heat, nor am I.

For some reason it didn't upload the pictures from my phone but I will upload them tomorrow from my computer.
They are some of the best ducks specially with their personality. It's been difficult to find them, some hatcheries have removed them from sale as well. I have been trying to find a Magpie drake in texas for 2 years with no luck.
