After finding a surprise cockerel in my hatchery chicks, I'm starting to worry about my older chicks and if they might be hiding something from me.

Einstein the smooth sizzle. She is four months, give or take a few days. She and her special extra toes started worrying me that she might be a boy when brown spots started showing up on her.

Cheese the blue silkie (with our black sumatran bully and a cat photobombing her). Also four months, give or take.

Are they still too young to tell, or is there enough for you guys to get an idea if they could be cockerels in disguise?

Hi,

I have a couple of silkies as well and I know I have one rooster he is almost 5 moths and crows. My black one whom I named Jack I think is now a female how ever it is the heaviest of the three and the largest. She does not crow and she has thick legs so I am not sure what she is at this point, but look at my pictures and maybe we can see some similarities between them and hopefully get a better idea. I know the little white one is definitely a girl.

Thanks.

Someone crowed this morning! My bets are on Einstein. Sad we have (yet another) rooster, but it could be worse. As long as he keeps his soft personality he can stay, but if he gets a nasty attitude, he's getting shipped off to a farm north of us.
