guinea fowl lethargic and cant make any noise

I posted this in the wrong section earlier by mistakeoes anyone have any idea why one of our guineas completely stopped making noise? We currently only have two and they both seem to be males. They ALWAYS chirp in the mornings and afternoons,, and any other time we cackle at them to get them going. Now just out of the blue one of them cannot make any noises. It's almost like he has hurt something in his throught and it hurts him to try and cackle. When he does try its just a sad little scratchy sound not loud at all. You can see him trying to make noises but nothing really comes out. He also seems to be not moving around as much and almost seems sad. He doesn't hang out with the other one like they used to, he just sits or stands by himself for the most part.Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I hope someone can help because I had the same problem. My male bird just stood and stopped making noise. He showed no signs of sickness so I didn't know what to do. Iam sorry to say but he died two nights ago. Iam also desperate for an answer.

has his poop changed?
is he eating and drinking?
is he roosting in his normal place?
is he penned, free ranger or penned and let out and goes up at night?
bout how old is he?
things like that...

I am not expert but sounds to me it is not just his throat that has a problem...
maybe cold/bronchitis/pnuemonia ...something on that line.
if you are able to separate and put into the bird hospital cage/pen I would do that
to keep the other from possibly getting sick too.
if he were mine I would put some Duramycin-10 (found @ Tractor Supply) in his
water with some hard scrambled eggs or the yolk from boiled egg to start him with
to help with his problem. That would give him some protein and an antibiotic.
With the Duramycin I put 1 tablespoon into a gallon jug, add a bit of sugar, fill @ 1/3 with warm water
and shake to mix it all together. Then fill with cool water and serve that up for his only water source.
It wouldn't hurt to also give this water mixture to the other guinea either. Even if the sick guinea
gets better in a few days I continue this for their water for a few weeks, 10 - 14 days.

Again, I am not an expert but what I would do til someone with more knowledge told me different.

I am sorry for your loss...

but to me a guinea not running around and making noise ARE signs of sickness...I would keep an eye on the rest of my flock for
any signs of anyone else being sick...but thats just me...

was just trying to repost to get attention for your sick guy....

I just noticed his poop is runny and foamy/bubbly (I saw something about that somewhere).
He's about a year old.
He free ranges and normally sleeps on top of our shop. He stopped doing that and just sits ON another shop roof like he's laying down.
He can move fast but you have to make him move.
His noise sounds like he's really got a scratchy throat. Usually I can go out and holla at them and they'll scream back, but now he can't, it looks like he tries though.

Oh, I have seen him drink but don't think he's eating too much. I do see him pecking at bugs around the yard but haven't seen him actually eat any food. I put some boiled egg whites out but he didn't eat them.

put some crumbled boiled eggs yolks for protein out for him and
maybe some where he has started sleeping.....I would put him
on the antibiotic too...

hopefully someone else will see this and rely soon...

Got'em some duramycin10 and some high protein food. Just hope I got it for him in time to help. He's agrivating at 5:30 in the morning but we'll miss him and his cackling if he expires.

let's hope not too late....

if you have many water sources for them to drink from
empty them and put the duramycin mixture in all those
closest to him....(.and the others may benefit from it too.).
